What happens when you ask us for advice.
The same five steps since 2007 — from a relaxed first conversation to a review every year — with the cost explained before anything begins.

A clear process, and a straight answer on cost.
Whether it's a mortgage, a pension or protecting your family, advice at PBS follows the same path — and you'll know where you are on it at every point.
Good advice starts with listening, not with products. We take the time to understand your situation and your goals before we research anything, and you'll deal with the same adviser from the first conversation to completion — face to face at 9 King Street, by phone, or by video call.
Your first conversation is free, and there's no obligation. We don't charge upfront fees: we charge a fee for our services on completion, and your adviser will always explain it plainly before you commit to anything.
After that, it's five steps. Here's what each one actually involves.
From first chat to sorted — and reviewed every year.
The five stages of every piece of advice we give, in the order they happen.

Your story & goals
A relaxed conversation about where you are now and where you want to get to — your circumstances, your plans, and what matters most to you.

Research
Because we're independent, we search the whole market — including deals that aren't always available directly — for the options that genuinely fit.

Recommendation
A clear, personalised recommendation in plain English, with the reasons why it fits your goals — so the decision is properly yours.

Implementation
Once you're happy, we handle the applications, the paperwork and the chasing, dealing with lenders and providers on your behalf.

Review
Life moves on. When it's time for a review or a renewal, we'll get in touch to check your arrangements still fit and keep everything on track.
The things people usually ask first.
If yours isn't here, ask us — that's rather the point of the free chat.
What does financial advice cost?
Your first conversation is free, and there's no obligation. We don't charge upfront fees — we charge a fee for our services on completion, and your adviser will always explain it before you commit to anything.
Are you genuinely independent?
Yes. We're not tied to any lender, bank or product provider, so our research covers the whole market and our recommendation is based only on what fits your circumstances.
Do you have access to exclusive deals?
Often, yes. We work with a wide range of lenders and providers, including smaller ones whose deals aren't always available directly. That widens the options we can put in front of you.
What will you need from me?
We start with a chat of around twenty minutes about your financial position and goals, and the adviser will share their initial thoughts. To move to an application we'll then need documents — typically photographic ID, proof of address and evidence of income — and we'll explain how your data is used and stored.
What if I can't make it during working hours?
We'll do our best to arrange a phone call or meeting outside our usual hours. Just get in touch and we'll find a time that works.
How do I get started?
Simply call, email or use the form below. We can arrange a phone call, a face-to-face appointment at our King Street office, or a video call — whichever suits you best.
Step one is a conversation that costs nothing.
Tell us roughly what's on your mind and we'll come back to you within one working day. No hard sell, no obligation, no jargon.
